July 2, 2006 - The Lincoln City Council has announced the formation of of a local Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.  This commission will assist the state and national commissions during 2008 - 2010 in dealing with the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth.  The official resolution can be viewed here (complements of Lincoln Daily News.com).  In a kick-off ceremony held at Lincoln College, visitors were invited to talk with Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln impersonators and to partake in the cake and punch.  Below are pictures of the event, taken by Geoff Ladd.
